About the app
What is Meing?
Meing is an iPhone app built around a 30-second check-in: a moment of sensing, one guided breath, and an affirmation that brings you back to you. You do it once, twice, or several times a day. It's built for messy days and real life. Every check-in becomes a light in a personal universe that grows with you. It was created by meditation teacher Ilia Grace. (More than once a day and the growing universe are Meing Premium features.)
What is a mindful check-in?
A mindful check-in is a very short pause to notice where you are, take one intentional breath, and return to yourself before going on with your day. In Meing it takes about 30 seconds. It is not a meditation session; it is the coming-back part of practice, done on its own, many times a day.
How long does a Meing check-in take?
About 30 seconds. Sensing, breathing, meing, done. The length is the point: it is small enough to happen in the middle of a workday, a school run, or a hard afternoon.
How is Meing different from Calm, Headspace, or Insight Timer?
Calm, Headspace, and Insight Timer are content libraries: guided sessions, courses, and sleep stories you make time for. Meing is a single 30-second practice you do inside the day you already have, with no library to browse and no sessions to schedule. There are also no streaks; missing a day breaks nothing, and your universe only ever grows. The apps complement each other, and Meing's founder still teaches full-length practices on Insight Timer.
Do I need to meditate to use Meing?
No. Meing asks for one noticed breath and a few seconds of attention, which anyone can do on the first try. If you already meditate, Meing carries your practice into the rest of the day; if you never have, it's a simple place to start.
What is the Universe in Meing?
Every check-in you save becomes a small bright sphere in your own night sky. Show up over days and weeks and you earn planets, and after ninety days Meing begins drawing constellations from your own history. Nothing ever disappears from it; it is a record of the moments you chose to be present. (Meing Premium feature.)
Is Meing free?
Yes. One full check-in every day is free forever, no card required. Meing Premium makes check-ins unlimited and collects every moment into your universe, at $4.99 a week, $9.99 a month, or $59.99 a year, in USD. The free daily check-in is not a trial; it does not expire. Details are on the pricing page.
About the practice
What does "sensing, breathing, meing" mean?
- Sensing means a few seconds of noticing where you are, using your senses. You're invited to touch the screen with your finger and "draw" playfully to help bring you back to the present moment.
- Breathing is about taking one or two guided breaths with intention.
- Meing means to come back to presence and to come back to you with a simple affirmation.
How many check-ins should I do per day?
There is no one right number for everyone. Free accounts include one a day, and Premium is unlimited. Try one when you wake up, two or three during a difficult afternoon, another before bed. Or whatever your day asks for. There is no wrong way.
When is the best time to check in?
The moment you notice your mind has run off with the day; that noticing is the check-in beginning. If you like rhythm, morning, midday, and evening are natural anchors, and Meing can nudge you gently at times you choose.
Will Meing work if I've never meditated before?
Yes, and it may be the easiest entry into presence you'll find. The practice is guided from the first tap, one step at a time, and there is nothing to get wrong. Thirty seconds is the whole ask.
About the founder
Who created Meing?
Ilia Grace, a meditation teacher and student of spiritual health based in Toronto, Canada. Her guided practices on Insight Timer have been played more than 31,500 times with a 4.77-star average across 3,800+ ratings. She built Meing solo, as the all-through-the-day practice her mornings couldn't give her. Meing is published by Ilia Grace & Co Incorporated; the full story is on the About page.
What is Ilia Grace's background in meditation?
She has practiced for thirteen years and taught for over three, with 31,500+ plays on Insight Timer. Meing grew out of her own practice: a small thing she did all through the day that turned out to matter more than her morning routine. The About page tells it properly.
Your data, plainly
What data does Meing collect?
Your sign-in (email, or Apple or Google authentication) and your check-ins, which sync to a server so your universe survives a lost phone or a reinstall. Nothing is collected for advertising and nothing tracks you across other apps. The full policy is at meing.org/privacy.
Is my data sold to anyone?
No, never. Meing is built and run by one person and funded by subscriptions, which is exactly why your data does not need to be the product. Deleting your account in Settings removes your Meing data from our servers within 30 days. Full details on the Privacy page.
What platforms is Meing available on?
Meing is available for iPhone only for now, through the App Store. If you're waiting on Android please reach out and let us know at hello@meing.org.
The fastest way to understand Meing is the free 30 seconds itself.
